When the postcard has first seen the light of day about 140 years ago, certainly nobody could imagine that something like that would ever exist in a digital version. Since about 1870 you could send in most german States privat made postcards, as fotos and pictures first appeared in communication. But times, you could remind friends or relevants in distance about you only with letter or postcard, are long ago.

To greet someone by sending an E-mail with often nice or funny pictures attached to it, is not only common among young people. This kind of greeting in shape of an electronic card is called e-card.

Already before most e-card portales appeared in the internet, a similar function has been used with popular SMS-Pictures, which many cellphone manufacturer integrated in ready-made short messages, which have often been extended by privat companies through endless numbers of pictures. Even then, the goal has always been to offer friends or relatives something new or fancy because you probably do not want to bore anyone by always sending the same motives.

Nobody can tell an exact number of motives ever published, so you can already today find enourmous amounts of e-card motives with strongly increasing tendency. But in contrast to the original postcard, e-cards are for free most of the time and thanks to your also free E-Mail account you can send these digital greetings without an postage stamp replacement.

Because e-cards are getting more popular each day, new motives are added daily, no matter if you want to send birthday cards, invitation cards, a nice picture of your dream vacation, and animated flash card or an even self made motive - you will always find something new.
